The VECTRA WB360 is a high-precision 3D full-body scanner system from Canfield Scientific and is one of the most advanced skin imaging devices in the world. It was developed specifically for dermatological full-body mapping – in particular for the early detection of skin cancer.

Yes – the VECTRA WB360 skin scan is completely safe, painless and non-invasive.

The scan is contactless and uses only normal light – no radiation, no lasers, no contrast agents. The 92 cameras capture your skin surface in a few seconds and use it to create a high-resolution 3D image of your body (avatar).

As there is no physical intervention, the scan is suitable for all age groups – including children, older people and those with sensitive skin.

The data is used exclusively for medical follow-up and is stored and processed in accordance with data protection regulations.

An appointment for a VECTRA WB360 skin scan usually takes 30 minutes.

The actual scanning process itself takes only a few seconds. We also take time for:

· A preliminary consultation to get to know you and your skin (risk factors, previous findings, etc.)

· The actual image capture with the Vectra 3D scanner

· A thorough clinical and dermatoscopic examination

· A medical evaluation of the images

· An individual discussion of the results and recommendations for further treatment, and an opportunity to ask questions.

If digital dermatoscopy of individual lesions or further examination is necessary, the appointment may take a little longer.

The goal is always the same: a thorough, understandable and trustworthy examination – without time pressure.

The artificial intelligence (AI) integrated into the VECTRA WB360 system supports our medical diagnostics where humans reach their natural limits – especially when it comes to the precise analysis and comparison of large skin areas over time.

AI can:

Identify new or changed moles (naevi) in comparison to previous scans

Detect abnormalities in the shape, colour, size and symmetry of skin lesions

Mark potentially suspicious skin changes that require more detailed medical assessment

Record and document every single mole on the entire body.

Detect changes between two points in time with millimetre precision – even in areas that are difficult to see.

AI often detects changes more precisely and objectively than any human being, as it works systematically and without visual fatigue.

However,

the final decision on what a change means medically and whether or how it needs to be treated is always made by an experienced specialist.

A full-body skin scan with the VECTRA WB360 is generally suitable for anyone who wants to have their skin examined professionally and systematically. However, the scan is particularly recommended for people with an increased risk of skin cancer, for example:

· People with many or conspicuous moles

· People with fair skin who burn easily

· People with a family history of skin cancer (parents or siblings)

· People who are frequently exposed to the sun (e.g. due to outdoor work, sports or solarium use)

· People who have already had skin cancer removed and require regular follow-up checks

The VECTRA 3D skin cancer scan enables complete documentation and precise follow-up over many years – painlessly, safely and without contact.

The earlier changes are detected, the better the chances of recovery.

There is no general answer to the question of how often a full-body skin scan is advisable – it depends on your individual situation.

Important factors include:

· Your skin type and sensitivity to the sun

· The number and type of moles you have

· Family history of skin cancer

· Previous findings (e.g. skin tumours that have already been removed)

· And, above all, how quickly your moles change

As a rough guide:

Once a year if you have many, conspicuous or changing moles, fair skin, a family history of skin cancer or a previous skin cancer.

During your appointment, Prof. Dr Ralph Braun will discuss with you which check-up interval is medically appropriate for you – individually tailored and evidence-based. The aim is to detect changes in good time and protect your skin in the long term.

The VECTRA 3D full-body skin scan alone costs CHF 490 and is a self-pay service.

The separate medical consultation with Prof. Dr Ralph Braun is billed separately according to TARMED and is covered by basic insurance (depending on the insurance model, sometimes with a deductible or excess).

The 3D skin scan (VECTRA WB360) is a self-pay service, which means that the costs are initially incurred privately.

In our experience, more and more supplementary insurance policies are covering all or part of the costs of the Vectra 3D skin cancer scan.

Insurance companies have realised that the scan can ultimately save costs by enabling skin cancer to be detected and treated earlier, while at the same time reducing the number of benign moles that need to be removed.

For example, KPT Insurance covers 75% of the costs for Pulse plus and Pulse premium policyholders.

We recommend that you clarify this with your supplementary insurance provider in advance to avoid any misunderstandings.

Yes – after the VECTRA 3D skin scan, you will receive a personal medical evaluation and discussion of the results by Prof. Dr. med. Ralph Braun.

The images and noticeable skin changes will be discussed with you on screen.

Depending on the findings, you will receive:

· A verbal assessment with specific recommendations

· If medically necessary, written documentation, e.g. for referrals, follow-up checks or for forwarding to your family doctor.

The 3D image data is part of your medical history, remains securely stored and is used for long-term follow-up – however, it is not automatically included in a printed patient report.

Your data is initially stored on our own secure servers directly at the clinic. This means that your information - including the 3D image data from the skin scan - initially remains completely internal and under our direct control.

For double security, an external, encrypted backup is regularly created on certified Swiss servers. These backup servers meet the highest standards of data protection and IT security and are located exclusively within Switzerland.

Access to your data is strictly regulated and reserved exclusively for authorized medical professionals. Your data will never be passed on without your consent and will only be used for medical care and follow-up.
